Students design a website in an area of interest. Once students solidify their concept, they select a theme and lay out their site. Text and graphics are added, making up the basic components of the website. After the website is established, students learn how to code in HTML to edit text on webpages and design for various screen sizes on desktops, tablets, and mobile devices. students are also able to utilize additional coding languages like CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, AngularJS, Sass and Ruby.

Valuable Learning Opportunities include gaining experience in HTML coding, graphics, fonts, page layouts, plugins and more!

Compatible Devices: Windows PC, Mac, or Chromebook recommended, iPad and Android tablet compatible.

In-Person Course (Seattle STEM Center): Devices will be provided

Virtual Course Best User Experience: Our courses require a stable internet connection. students may also want to use headphones if their device is not located in a quiet space. You may want your child to use a virtual background when logged into Zoom if you would like to block out the view of your child’s actual background – this is compatible with a wide variety of computers.

Terms & Conditions: Please note, if registering for a Web Design course, you agree to the following: students are required to come to the course with a verified WordPress account (which can be created for free on the WordPress website). Once the URL is selected for the website and it is initiated, students will make their website private but will be able to edit/build their site during the week. Once the website is private, students must keep their website private during the entire course week. Once a student establishes his/her website, the website is owned/managed completely by the student and his/her legal guardian, and is unaffiliated with Lavner courses. If the student would like to make his/her website live when the course week ends, it is at the student/legal guardians option to publish/manage the site only after the course is over.
