Success In Coding Starts Here + Create Your Own Video Game.
There’s never been a better time to start learning how to code. In our MIT Scratch 101 course, we introduce our students to coding in a fun and engaging way. The main project in the course is creating a game, so students will also learn the basics of game design, and create a project that they can utilize at the end of the session.
Scratch uses a custom programming language that is easy to understand, and in this class, we teach our students how to combine blocks of code, utilize scenery, customize characters, use loops, create a functioning game, and lots more. We also teach students how to add sound effects, images, and more, which helps make the projects engaging! Want to get creative? We hope so! Each student can custom their project to give it its own unique style and make it their own.
Valuable Learning Opportunities include preparing for success in coding, improving logical thinking skills, building creativity & design skills, learning the value of making games… not just playing them!, and leaving with your very own project!
Experience Level: Students with no experience or little experience should join this course. If you have 10-15 hours of Scratch coding experience and/or have attended a Scratch Coding summer course with us, then you should sign up for MIT Scratch Coding 102 with Digital Animation.
Compatible Devices: Windows PC, Mac, Chromebook
Best User Experience: Our courses require a stable internet connection. Students may also want to use headphones if their device is not located in a quiet space. You may want your child to use a virtual background when logged into Zoom if you would like to block out the view of your child’s actual background – this is compatible with a wide variety of computers.
No prior experience is necessary.
