General Information

Thank you for your interest in the CIT Leadership Program!  Below is a list of general information that will help guide you through the process of applying and participating in the program.  We highly recommend that you read the camp descriptions on our website and reach out to us with any questions or comments you may have ([email protected]). We are passionate about developing leadership skills in young teens and providing them with the self-confidence, leadership skills, and tools to succeed in life!

Teenagers ages 13-15 interested in participating in the CIT Program must go through an application process. In order to be accepted into the program, the applicant must register for our CIT program online and answer a series of questions on the application relating to (1) their interest in joining the CIT Program, (2) desired camp experience, (3) past summer camp experience as a either a CIT or a camper (not required), and (4) questions pertaining to leadership.

Since most of the interviews are the first interview for these applicants, interviews are meant to be a friendly and positive experience. After the interview, the decision for acceptance is made within one week.

Upon acceptance into the program, a formal letter of acceptance is provided (detailing the CIT’s summer schedule). At orientation, the CITs become CPR/First Aid certified, receive their CIT Handbook, discuss leadership skills, and train for camp!  CITs participating in Specialty Camps may train in these specialty areas. Upon completion of training, our CITs are ready to embark on a great summer experience!

CITs may choose to be placed at any of the following camp locations: Devon Prep, Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary, Newtown Friends, Rosemont College, University of Pennsylvania, Valley Forge Educational Services, Waldron Mercy Academy, West Chester University, Ursuline Academy, Stuart Country Day School, Montclair State University, NYU, The Cathedral School, NYIT-Old Westbury, Towson University, GW, WashU in St. Louis, UCLA, Berkeley, SFSU, Lake Forest College, or Carrollton School.

The applicant is asked to provide the contact information (email address) for two references (one reference should be one of your child’s current teachers).

The application fee of $50 per applicant is non-refundable and is separate from tuition.  The application fee is processed at the end of online registration, and prior to your interview.

Once the online application is submitted, the entire application is reviewed within one week and selected applicants will interview with a representative from the Lavner Camp office.

CITs may participate in 3 or more weeks of camp.

Upon acceptance into the program, a formal letter of acceptance is provided to the CIT and acceptance is binding.  Our camp office then processes tuition online.  The CIT receives confirmation of his or her camp(s) placement (detailing camp location and weeks of participation) via email.

CITs are asked to attend our June 1st orientation and training session, where they will become CPR certified and First Aid trained. At orientation, CITs receive their CIT Packet, the CIT Handbook, two special CIT t-shirts, a journal for writing their daily entries, and a gift bag!

You must apply for the CIT Leadership Program online (by clicking the “Register Now!” button at the top of the homepage on and completing/submitting the online application.  When applying for the CIT Leadership Program, you must complete the entire CIT application form, which contains a consent form that must be signed by the parent and/or legal guardian of the CIT.  If you initiated the application over the phone, our office will start your application, but you will still need to complete your registration online which includes our CIT registration form.  If you do not complete our consent form but send your child to camp, this will be considered as implied consent to the terms and conditions listed in our consent form.  If you are having trouble accessing online registration, you must print the consent form and scan/email it to [email protected] prior to starting your CIT camp schedule.  The consent form constitutes the entire agreement and no section of the consent form may be waived by any other writings or methods of communication.

If you refer four (4) or more families, your referral fees increase from $50 per family to $100 per family!

A “New Family” is a family that has never registered a child for a Lavner Camps summer camp or year-round program.

The new family must list your name on the “referred by” line on their online camper registration form.  A new family can only list one referral source.

To be eligible for a referral credit, you must also send a child to Lavner Camps in Summer 2019 for at least one week (full week, full days).

Referrals are unlimited and are awarded in October 2019 in your Lavner Camps Account.  You will be notified by email once your referral credit(s) are awarded!

The family tallying the most referrals for Summer 2019 will receive one (1) free week of camp/CIT program at any of our day camps for Summer 2020!

Acceptance into the CIT Leadership Program is binding and all tuition, including the Application Fee, is non-refundable.

We do not provide make up days or refunds for missed days of camp or “no shows” regardless of any reason.

Changing CIT Schedule on or before May 1, 2019: If you wish to change your CIT schedule on or before May 1st, 2019, Lavner Camps will accommodate this request for no charge, however, the new camp date(s) requested is subject to availability.  We do our best to accommodate all requests.

Changing CIT Schedule after May 1, 2019: If you wish to change your CIT schedule after May 1st, 2019 there is a $25.00 change fee (per request) and placement into a new camp week(s) is subject to availability.

A change of CIT schedule pertains to either a change of dates, change of camp, or change of location.

If you are requesting to change more than one (1) camp week within the same request, the change fee is still $25.00.

The CIT Handbook will be distributed at CIT Orientation. The CIT Handbook includes detailed information that will help CITs prepare for camp and feel confident prior to their first day.  Some topics include information on child development, how CITs differ from instructors, general expectations of CITs, how to make the most out of the CIT program, a typical daily camp schedule, and more…

Early arrival and extended day is provided at all locations.

Early Arrival is from 8:00am to 9:00am  ($10/day)

Extended Day is from 3:30pm to 6:00pm  ($18/day)

Note: Extended Day at Tech Revolution locations is from 5:00pm to 6:00pm ($10/day).

Families have the option of purchasing lunch or packing lunch for their child.

If a child has a food allergy, the child’s family is required to pack lunch each day for this child, and lunch may not be purchased through camp.  Our third party food service vendors are not able to guarantee that the lunches are free from food allergens and/or free from any cross contamination.

If you decide to purchase lunch you can do so online during registration or can log back into your account and purchase lunch until the Friday prior to the start of the camp week.  Depending upon the location, lunches are ordered from area restaurants, caterers, and/or the university or school cafeteria.

If you are packing a lunch, please make sure all food items are nut-free.  Lunches can be refrigerated upon request (just ask one of your child’s camp instructors or the camp director).

For the safety of our campers, we are a Nut-Aware camp.  Please do not send any nut products to camp with your child.  While we are a “Nut-Aware” camp, we cannot guarantee a nut-free environment.

2 Free CIT t-shirts:  Every CIT receives two “Lavner Camps!” CIT t-shirts.

Additional Lavner Camps apparel is available for purchase at any time at the Lavner Camps Store!
