Adventurers (Grades 3 & 4) Majors & Minors

 

Majors

Select 1 Major each week. Majors take place from 9am to 11:30am each day. There is a snack break from 10:15am to 10:30am.

 

3D Printing:

Now is your chance to design and print your own superhero figures and logos! You’ll start by creating clay models, followed by digital 3D designing. You’ll then print your design in a real 3D printer!  At the end of the week, go home with at least two 3D-printed superheroes or logos to show family and friends!

Acting:

Prepare yourself to star as a superhero in a short skit! Campers boost their acting skills while having tons of fun as a superhero, sidekick, or villain! This is a great chance for campers to improve their speech skills and self confidence in a fun and engaging environment!

App Design:

You’re the superhero, and your new app is the sidekick! Campers get to design and program an app that will train the next generation of superheroes… think fun games that test speed and agility! At the end of the week, campers get to take their app home with them. Apps can be exported to both AndroidTM and/or iOS devices, and are playable on a PC (If exporting to an iOS device, please note that the playability on an iOS device requires approval from the Apple Store).

Cartooning:

Create your own superhero story! Campers, brainstorm, plan, and create their very own superhero comic!  Step-by-step tutorials in conjunction with expert instructors make the process fun and educational!

Clothing Design for American Girl Dolls™:

Design the ultimate superhero wardrobe for your American Girl Doll!  Campers utilize both hand sewing and machine sewing to create superhero inspired clothing, accessories, and capes!  Sewing machines and fabric are provided, but campers should bring in their own dolls. On Friday, campers choreograph and produce their very own fashion show!

Doll Making:

Now is your chance to make your very own superhero doll.  Projects include options like ragdolls, elegant dolls, superhero dolls, and adorable whimsical dolls. Campers use a wide variety of materials, and have the opportunity to make accessories. At the end of the week, campers celebrate by holding a superhero gathering for their dolls!

Electrical Engineering 4 Kids:

In Electrical Engineering, campers have the opportunity to create gadgets to keep superheroes empowered throughout the day and night! Come learn the basics of electrical engineering and electronics as you work hands-on with kid-friendly circuits, switches, and more to help your superhero save the day!

InventLab – Race Cars, Arenas and Competitions:

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to build and control a superhero’s car? Now is your chance to find out!  In this action-packed major, campers learn the fundamentals of physics in order to design, build, and control their very own superhero race car. Campers can even produce their own logo, promotional flyer, and collectible card to take home at the end of the week!

Math Boost:

Math skills are a real-life superpower!  As a way to bridge the “summer learning gap,” Math Boost is meant to keep your skills sharp in a fun atmosphere! Campers will build skills while solving exciting superhero math problems! The goal of this major is to foster each camper’s love for math while having a great time!

Mural Making:

Create a mural to inspire the next generation of superheroes! Add your own signature style and ideas as you paint your masterpiece. Campers can work individually or in groups… these murals will be BIG! Murals go on display at camp, and can be taken home at the end of the week!

Next Generation Sports:

Superheroes need to stay healthy while building their strength and agility! Campers will have the opportunity to develop their skills in superhero themed games and competitions.  A special emphasis is put on safe gameplay techniques, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Campers also engage in friendly competitions such as Home Run Derby, Superhero Shoot Out, World Cup Games, and tournaments!

Reading & Writing Boost:

Improve your reading and writing skills while boosting your love for learning. Campers read and discuss various superhero books and will even get a chance to write their own superhero story and give their own inspirational superhero speech!

Soccer:

Practice your super speed and take your soccer game to the next level! Campers engage in instructional drills focusing on skills, footwork, and strategy. Campers participate in a variety of friendly competitions throughout the week such as World Cup, Superhero Shoot-Outs, “live” drills, and More!

Superheroes:

Create your very own superhero brand! You’ll design things like mini comic books, accessories, shields, 3D printed logos, and a t-shirt. After camp, receive your own custom Superhero t-shirt in the mail to show family and friends!
Please allow 14 days to receive your superhero shirt.

Unicorn Mania:

Create a magical unicorn sidekick for an out-of-this-world superhero! Hand sew your very own unicorn stuffed animal and accessories, create your own unicorn design for a t-shirt, and even redesign an old pair of sneakers with a unicorn theme. There will also be fun events like a scavenger hunt for our hidden Unicorn and a Unicorn Fashion Show.
Please allow 14 days to receive your unicorn shirt.


 

Minors

Select 1 Minor each week. Minors take place from 1:45pm to 3:15pm.

Arts & Crafts:

Join us for an exciting week of arts and crafts where you can make superhero themed projects like puppets, masks, cartoon drawings, logos, and sneakers. Our curriculum is designed to promote innovation and creativity while developing fine motor skills and increasing dexterity. At the end of the week, campers will take home craft items that add to their superhero persona!

Basketball:

Rookies and seasoned veterans alike will be able to improve their skills in this minor! Campers participate in a variety of individual and team drills and scrimmages to build offensive and defensive abilities. Campers also participate in superhero themed competitions that focus on free throw shooting, spot shooting, dribbling and more! See you on the court!

Coding – MakerLab with Tynker:

Coding is a real-life superpower that is enabling the next generation! Campers learn the principles of programming as they design, build, and program various superhero projects. MakerLab with Tynker provides interactive, easy to use software to help campers bring projects to life. Projects are beta tested during the week and an end of camp  showcase takes place on Friday!

Flying Machines: Model Rocketry & Drones:

Superheroes are needed in land and in the air! In this minor, campers make their own rockets, complete with superhero logos and decorations! They also explore the amazing world of aerodynamics with lifelike drone simulators.  At the end of the week, campers participate in drone flying competitions and will get to launch their rockets at speeds of up to 500 feet per second!

Geography and MapMaking:

Learn about how superheroes can help people around the globe! Each week, campers select a region of the world and learn about countries, climate, terrain, culture, national products, and more. Campers also get to set up their superhero headquarters in a region, complete with lookout towers, a home base, and 3D illustrations specific to each country!

Junior Pastry Chefs:

Put on your aprons and have fun learning and baking! Plus, eat what you make! Campers bake various pastries and desserts throughout the week. On Friday, campers participate in a superhero themed Bake Off with judges and plenty of excitement. Join us for a hands-on Culinary experience that is sure to improve your skills!

Little Engineers:

In Little Engineers, campers complete various hands-on construction project including a superhero’s home base, a superhero car, and a model city! This is the perfect minor for kids who love to build! At the end of the week, campers will participate in fun challenges like speed building and strength testing!

Next Generation Sports:

Join a team of superheroes and have a blast with games all week long! Campers participate in soccer, basketball, kickball, wiffle ball, softball, and more! The week will end with fun superhero themed competitions where campers utilize their new skills!!

Reading & Writing Boost:

Improve your reading and writing skills while boosting your love for learning. Campers read and discuss various superhero books and will even get a chance to write their own superhero story and give their own inspirational superhero speech!

Robotics with WeDo:

Create a robot to help save the day! In this course campers build, program, and customize a superbot made to stop crime, put out fires, or protect citizens! Campers work in small groups to build robots during the week, and learn how to work with instructions and utilize logical thinking skills in creative builds. Campers also code their robots to complete different challenges. Campers will have a great time and learn tons of valuable tech skills!
