ROBOTICS CAMP WITH VEX IQ DESCRIPTION:

Ages 10 to 14 – Space is Limited, Register Now!

EXCITING NEW CAMP FOR 2018!

If you are looking for a more ADVANCED ROBOTICS Camp in Philadelphia PA, Main Line PA, NYC Manhattan, New Jersey, Wilmington, Towson, Washington DC, St. Louis, this camp is for you!

Using VEX® IQ, this camp offers the NEXT LEVEL of hands-on learning in Robotics. VEX® IQ allows campers to build more complex robots with more motors (12 ports!), advanced gears and pulley systems, better sensors, and enhanced controllability. Additionally, VEX® IQ has large, flexible pieces that allow for the construction of bigger, more sophisticated robots.

Not only do VEX® IQ robots have advanced parts, they also make use of both a vertical programing language similar to Scratch, and ROBOTC, the standard for educational robotics and competitions. This gives campers experience using the same programs used by middle and high school (and even college) robotics teams across the country!

With complex parts and a higher level of coding, campers are challenged to utilize strong building skills and truly develop their acuity for mechanics, engineering, and logic.

Some important concepts learned through hands-on experience are force and motion, design and problem solving, mechanical advantage, gear ratios, circumference and arcs, pulley systems, teamwork, and lots more…

Campers are divided into teams and complete numerous projects within our curriculum each week. Some robots campers can build include the Clawbot IQ, Armbot IQ, V-Rex, Ike, Linq, Slick, Allie, Stretch, Kiwi Drive Bot, Quadruped, and Speed Build Bot. Campers utilize their robots to complete assigned challenges, and compete in a camp-held Robotics Tournament at the end of each week!  Teamwork and collaboration are strongly emphasized at camp!

For the many campers who participate in our Robotics with EV3 (ages 6 to 12), Robotics with VEX® IQ is the next progressive step in learning Robotics!

Valuable Learning Opportunities:

Work with VEX®: VEX® has taken over as the standard for middle and high school robotics competitions. At this camp, you will learn to build, program, and control the kinds of robots that are used at most middle and high school competitions.

Apply STEM: Put science, technology, engineering, and math to practical use in building, programming, and problem-solving cool robots. See how the concepts you’ve learned in the classroom (and new ones you will learn at camp) can change how fast and efficiently a robot runs, and have a blast doing it!

Work in a Team: Robots are built in teams at all levels from elementary to high school to companies. Our camp is no exception, and learning to work together, divide tasks, plan, and communicate is key to success in Robotics with VEX® IQ. Bring your ideas for a cool team name to camp!

Hands-on Learning: There is just no substitute for building a robot yourself and learning how to problem-solve, debug, and experiment with new ideas with a real robot and real results.

Participate in Challenges: Your week at Robotics Camp will build up to ROBOWARS on Friday afternoon, where you will compete with the other teams in events like programming tasks, navigating obstacle courses, moving or collecting items, and of course battling against other robots in an arena!

All Campers Receive a Lavner Camps t-shirt!
