General Information

Thank you for your interest in the CIT Leadership Program!  Below is a list of general information that will help guide you through the process of applying and participating in the program.  We highly recommend that you read the camp descriptions on our website and reach out to us with any questions or comments you may have ([email protected]). We are passionate about developing leadership skills in young teens and providing them with the self-confidence, leadership skills, and tools to succeed in life!

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Teenagers ages 13-15 interested in participating in the CIT Program must go through an application process. In order to be accepted into the program, the applicant must register for our CIT program online and answer a series of questions on the application relating to (1) their interest in joining the CIT Program, (2) desired camp experience, (3) past summer camp experience as a either a CIT or a camper (not required), (4) and questions pertaining to leadership.

Since most of the interviews are the first interview for these applicants, interviews are meant to be a friendly and positive experience for these applicants. After the interview, the decision for acceptance is made within 3-5 days.

Upon acceptance into the program, a formal letter of acceptance is provided (detailing the CITs’ summer schedule) along with the CIT Handbook for review prior to orientation. At orientation, the CITs become CPR/First Aid certified, discuss leadership skills, and train for camp!  CITs participating in Specialty Camp(s) may train in these specialty area(s). Upon completion of training, our CITs are ready to embark on a great summer experience!

CITs may choose to be placed at any of the following camp locations: Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary, Newtown Friends School, Rosemont College, University of Pennsylvania, Valley Forge Educational Services, Waldron Mercy Academy, West Chester University, Ursuline Academy, Stuart Country Day School, Montclair State University, New York University, The Cathedral School, New York Institute of Technology, Towson University, George Washington University, Washington University in St. Louis, Vanderbilt University, or UCLA.

The applicant is asked to provide the contact information (email address) for two references (one reference should be one of your child’s current teachers).

The application fee of $50 per applicant is non-refundable and is separate from tuition.  The application fee is processed at the end of online registration, and prior to your interview.

Once the online application is submitted, the entire application is reviewed within one week and selected applicants will interview with a representative from the Lavner Camp office.

CITs may participate in 3 or more weeks of camp.

Upon acceptance into the program, a formal letter of acceptance is provided to the CIT and acceptance is binding.  Our camp office then processes tuition online.  The CIT receives confirmation of his or her camp(s) placement (detailing camp location and weeks of participation) via email.

CITs are asked to attend our June 2nd orientation and training session, where they will become CPR certified and First Aid trained. At orientation, CITs receive their CIT Packet, the CIT Handbook, two special CIT t-shirts, a journal for writing their daily entries, and a gift bag!
